This week has been a writer’s block nightmare. I cannot think of anything that I want to write about. Of course, there are plenty of ideas… just not ideas I want to take the time to write. This bought of writer’s block actually helped break my streak. While desperately trying to think of something to write, a wealth of ideas poured out my mind! It was a gift of creativity that I greedily tried to soak up. I frantically wrote each idea down ignoring how silly or ridiculous the idea might seem. Now I have a list of ideas to work from and I am so relieved! Surprisingly, 5 ways to overcome writer’s block was first on my list!
5 Ways to Overcome Writers Block
Write down every idea that comes to mind. Don’t over think it. Write the idea down for later. Then schedule the ideas for posts in the future.
Read. I like to read a book, magazine, blogs, or the news for ideas.
Spend time with family and friends. You may not write about family but being with other people often resets our thinking and refreshes us.
Exercise. Personally, I need to work out more (or start)! A walk, run, or dance class is terrific for working out ideas.
Take a bath. Relax in a tub with aromatic candles, lavender, scented soaps, and relaxing lotions.
The good news is writers block doesn’t last for long (this post is evidence). Write down your ideas, ignoring any self-criticism of the idea, and relax.
