Blog Business Plan Series Day 1

Blog Business Plan Series Day 1

Welcome back.  I am so glad to have you here to create your blog business plan.  During this series we will complete a blog business plan outline together.  I will share my thoughts about each part and share what I have done for my blogs.  This way you will have some background on the purpose of each section or part and how you may apply it to your blog business.

If you did not have an opportunity, check out yesterday’s Blog Business Plan Series – Introduction.  Meet me, read my story, and hopefully get inspired!

What is a blog business plan?

A business plan is an outline and feasible plan for building a business.  A blog business plan focuses on building a bog business, setting goals, how to meet goals, and timelines.

Let’s get started!

As I mentioned last week, I found a fabulous blog called ByRegina.  I adore this blog and have studied many of her tools.  I really love her thoroughness and detail in her resources.

For this series we are using Regina’s Blog Business Plan Outline.  If you haven’t already done so, visit ByRegina and print a copy of the outline.

Part 1.0

Blog Mission Statement / Blog Vision Statement; Blog Culture; Ideal Reader

Why a blog mission or vision statement?  A mission statement outlines your blog business philosophy, goals, target audience, and communication style.

To help with the process, I’ve created worksheets for each section.  Take your time in considering your mission statement.  Think about who you are, why you started the blog, what you want to share, and what you want your blog to say.  You may revise your mission statement a few times before you are satisfied.

What is a blog culture?  Simply, it is the type of environment your blog creates for its readers.  It includes the look, communication style, and content.  Parenting blogs may include primary colors for toddlers or school age children; baby blogs may focus on soft muted colors with a gentle mother’s touch; travel blogs may be clean and crisp to highlight the photos shared.

Day 1 Blog Business Plan
Create your Mission Statement

My blog mission statement: To share quality information and images that inspire readers to cook, dress, or create. The blog will entertain and inform readers; sharing from my heart my experiences, hopes, and dreams.

Blog culture: My blog will be personable, friendly, humorous, and relatable to readers. The blog will post excellent quality photos and images; give free printables and support documents for readers to use in their daily lives.

Ideal reader: My ideal reader is a parent, crafter, fashion, food lover, adventurous, and fun-loving.

Part 2.0

Now that we know what our blog promises to give and be to our readers let’s talk about what we want from our blog.

Objectives 2.1

What are your goals and vision for the blog? These may include an increase in traffic, social media presence, advertising, revenue, addition of products, or adding new or different content.

Homework

Now that we’ve gone through Parts 1 and 2 it is time for you to consider this information for your blog and how it relates to your vision.  Take time to work through the process of developing and examining your blog and what you want it to be for your reader AND yourself.  Your blog is meant to bring you as much enjoyment as your audience!

Thursday we’ll meet here again to review Parts 3 and 4.

Please comment your thoughts, questions, and ideas.

I think everyone will appreciate the collaboration building our business plans together.

Cheers!

Thank you, Ang! I’m digging deep for those creative juices. Lol. I am so glad you are enjoying the series. It is much better to learn with someone rather than alone. I hope you will join my FB party Friday to share what you have learned and done on your plan this week. Have a great evening! https://www.facebook.com/groups/frenchrobin/

Hey from the Blogger Tribe! I love that you broke this down. This is literally my plan for the weekend! I have to really get my business plan together for my blog and then I have another business idea that I’m working on that I need to get down on paper! Perfect timing to come across your blog and your series!

Thank you, Angela! I hope you find the series helpful. I learned a lot while going through it myself. Some of the items I am still working on; some things I have changed direction; and others are still in planning. It is mentioned several times and worth mentioning again — the business plan is a living document meant to change and modify.

Good luck on your new business idea.

      Cheers — Tammi
