Day 3 focused on market comparison, traffic goals, and social media.
Day 4 Marketing off the internet, making sales, and continued education.
Day 5 We worked on the financial budget and blog style.
I want to give a HUGE shout out to Regina from byRegina. She is the amazing blogger who wrote the blog business plan outline we are using for this series. She has incredible knowledge about the blogging business and a tremendous amount of resources on her blog. I STRONGLY urge you to visit her blog byRegina and take a look.
Let’s get started!
Part 11.0 Analytics and Social Recording
Analytics is yet another key part to monitoring your blog business. It is great to have a marketing, social media, and content plan. If you do not have a method to track the results, however, then it is wasted energy. Analytics or data examination help you, business owner, review your target audience’s interests, social activity, content preferences, and which platforms really work and which don’t.
The number 1 analytics tool is GOOGLE ANALYTICS. Nothing compares to the data found on Google. Personally, I don’t think Google is user-friendly. It took some time for me to really understand the analytics and start it on my blogs. It was well worth the learning curve.
This is a terrific tutorial on setting up your Google Analytics account and linking it to your blog.
I love Google Analytics. I can look at page views, user locations, what they are looking at, mobile devices, their interests, and so much more. It really helps me understand my audience and the content they are interested in consuming.
If you need a tutorial for installing Google Analytics on a webpage this video is helpful. Most blog themes come with a place to plug in your Google Analytics ID — but this video may help you to understand the backend of the analytics.
Analytics Part 11.1
Analytics is simply tracking and recording user data as it relates to your social accounts. I created a very simplified spreadsheet to help you track your social media. Change the spreadsheet to suit your needs; add specific pin, post, or tweet links etc. if it helps you focus your blog content.
Social Recording and Analytics Part 11.2
View your Pinterest analytics by going to you PROFILE. Click the GEAR drop down. Select ANALYTICS.
This is a screen shot of my analytics — a wealth of information and data.
At the top you can view your profile data, audience, and activity from your website / blog. Within these screens is information about which pins are gaining traction, your audience favorites, and more.
This screen shot of my Twitter analytics gives you a glimpse of the information you can find about your tweets, retweets, followers, and more.
Log into your Twitter account. Go to https://analytics.twitter.com/
Here you will find all kinds of data.
Go to your business or blog Facebook Page. At the top you will see ACTIVITY. This will take you to your activity, notifications, etc. for in-depth data.
Well, that’s it everyone. We have completed our blog business plan! I wish I could make confetti rain upon you and serve cake! Congratulations on this major accomplishment.
Do not forget the blog business plan is meant for review and change as your blog grows, your interests change, or you have a new product idea.
Thank you for joining me these past few weeks. Best wishes!!
