The beginning of each year is a mixed bag of excitement and dread. It is always exciting to think about the possibilities the new year holds and the wonderful surprises ahead. On the other hand, the new year signals tax time, paperwork, and preparation.
The first step to tax preparation is gathering and organizing all the past years paperwork. I’m not going to lie, I would rather mop floors or clean toilets than do filing.
Unfortunately, my distaste for filing always comes back to haunt me at the beginning of the year with a mountain of receipts, statements, and other documents to sort and file before visiting my CPA.
Start Beautiful Supplies
Start your year with filing system that includes a container to hold the files, file folders, and file folder labels. If possible, keep the files handy to drop receipts, bank statements, and paid bills into proper files. At the end of the year you will be grateful (and sane) you had a system.
My plan is to keep my household files next to the desk where I pay all my bills. My business files, on the other hand, are too many to have close to my desk but I am committed to keeping the files organized and neat.
The Perfect Home Office Resources
Who wants to look at ugly green and manila files? Not me. If I must use it at least it can be attractive and chic.
Here are some beautiful options to consider for your filing system. I don’t receive a commission for any of the resources just the pleasure of sharing them with you.
